What a difference, much cleaner than the Indian ports of call. Visited a tea plantation, saw the tea pickers and saw how the tea was processed in the factory.

Our excursion was private and we went out to the Pinwala Elephant Preserve and had a blast. Even got to feed the elephants. They would walk right up to you if you had fruit in your hands. Last trip we did Colombo, so we want to get out of town and worth it.

We have been here before so we took the 9-hour Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage tour. It was a long ride out here & back to the ship. You can take a train or a motor Coach to get here. What fun to have the elephants come right over to us searching our pockets and bags for food. It was fun watching the elephants playing & bathing themselves and we were invited to feed them bottles of milk later. We enjoyed a buffet lunch riverside.

The tuk tuk drivers at the gate were less than honest. They told us we needed to be at another gate to return to the ship. We ignored them...and the bus to the ship was waiting for us at this gate. Our private excursion was good.

The capital of Sri Lanka so you would expect this city to be inviting and it was. Very easy to get around with an experienced cab driver. Saw & visited all the major sites in one day. Overall quite a good stop over.

Definitely get off the ship! Colombo is lots of fun. The people are AMAZING. As another reviewer mentioned, be careful of the Tuk Tuk drivers. They can be dishonest. We have used the same guide for all 3 visits. Dilhan Suraweera. This guy is great. +94 71 300 1374. Info@DilhansAwesomeAdventures.com

We took a tea plantation tour with a very informative guide. I’d have enjoyed a brief drive through Colombo on the bus just to see it. We did enjoy 5e countryside
