For Puerto Vallarta, what is the average cost of a taxi from port to the Romantic Zone or Malacone? Does anyone know if Uber is better than a taxi?  How easy is it to find a taxi back to port?

We just took a taxi from port to Romantic Zone last Tuesday. It was $20 for 2 people. (not sure if that’s just average price?) It would have been more like $14 if we were willing to wait for a van to fill up with other people.                                                  Then we got an Uber back from the Malecon to Walmart, across the street from the cruise  port. It was 189 MX, so about $7.50 / $8.00 USD.              There were lots of taxi drivers around though. They’ll ask you if you have a ride yet - no problem.

Based on a recommendation from my guide there, UBER is your best bet. They are inexpensive and you won’t get taken for a ride, which some taxi drivers will do. You know the route and how much it will cost beforehand, no games.
