We knew ahead of time that this wasn't a nice port so we didn't have any expectations there. We booked the Uxmal Mayan Ruins tour, it took almost two hours to get there but the ruins were on our bucket list so it was way worth it. Next year we plan to take a shopping excursion as prices here are much lower than Cozumel.

We did the Above and Below excursion (find it on trip advisor). Exclusive and private tour that was the highlight of our cruise! Well worth it! Highly recommended!

I loved the old feel of Progresso but like other reviewers have mentioned the vendors are at every step. The vendors on the beach are hustling to make a living so I can understand why they do this. The beach is several blocks away from the drop off location. To sit in the available covered areas everyone must make a purchase. Other than that there’s no shaded areas. The massages right on the beach range from $10/per person - $20/person.

We had a good time here. The vendors were a little more aggressive than most(but hey, that’s how they make their living), but once away from the crowded port and bus areas everyone was really cool. We didn’t do an excursion here, just ate, walked around a bit and went back to the ship.

Make sure you book an excursion for this port. We did not enjoy this stop but might’ve had we booked one. We opted to take the bus into town and walk to the beach. We didn’t really feel safe and were followed at one point. So we went back to the port and had lunch in the little restaurant beside the ship and shopped there.

We did the Uxmal Mayan Ruins and Hacienda Ochill tour. It was amazing. Long bus ride, but worth it!!! The ruins are so interesting and historical and Hacienda Ochill is so beautiful!!

Went on an affordable excursion here as well. Went shopping near the port. It was really nice. The water at the beach we went to wasn't as clear as the beach in cozumel. But it was still nice.
