We had a Roberts Hawai’i driver take us on a wonderful Hawaiian Volcano tour. James was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained.

Rented a car and did our own touring. They did have shuttle busses to Walmart from the port.

The port is just ok. Our view of a ship yard was disappointing. Had a Tour (The Ultimate Hilo Coast)

Rented a convertible car. Way to go. There are shuttles that go between the port and the rental area at the airport. Headed north to Ninole. Was pouring rain most of the time but got a good 45 minutes "topless".

We had an excursion to Mauna Loa macadamia nut farm and then to Mauna Kea crater. After we got back, wee took a taxi to Rainbow falls, the Japanese gardens and to the black beach (we saw turtles sunning there!).
