It rained in Hilo while we were there but the bike tour through Volcanoes National Park was still enjoyable. They gave us rain coats, and we could have also ridden in the van if we wanted to get out of the rain. After you leave the port the ship does a scenic view of the lava going in to the ocean. This is a great night view of a lava flow so don't miss it.

Our first stop on the excursion was Rainbow Falls (one of many water falls in Hawaii). Although it was nice - it wasn't as spectacular as I thought it was going to be. Then it was on to Volcano National Park. This is a definite don't miss. It's not everyday you get fairly close to a live volcano and see steam vents from under the earth. We also walked through a lava tube which was a very unique experience.

Visited Rainbow Falls, botanical gardens and Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Another great day!, also Akaka Falls and Black sand beach. Lots of history at the National Park.

We visited the volcano which was very interesting, but not enough time. Only 40 minutes at the volcano, then 15 minutes at another site (steam vents). We were supposed to go to an orchid garden and it was closed and went to a zoo instead. The zoo was actually pretty nice, but were only given 20 minutes to visit. Also, took forever to get on the bus. Not very well planned and not worth the money. It would have been better to rent a driver for about 4 hours. ONLY REAL DISAPPOINTMENT ON THE WHOLE TRIP.

Took a tour to a Waterfall, a zoo, two cookie factories and other outlets that sells things. Fell in love with the cookies. Brought several packages home to friends. But, on the 6 days cruising back home, they magically disappeared. Take a tour.....but, not this one.

Long lines waiting for vehicles and rental cars was really miserable. No cover from the sun waiting for cars outside of the large building. Just needs more organization.
