Did a wonderful excursion to see Rainbow falls and a cave, and a tour of a coffee plantation . Because of severe storms we had to stay overnight in the port and left in the morning. Great farewell party on deck though!

We booked a small group Active Volcano, Lava Tube, Waterfall and Gardens tour through Mauka Makai Adventures. Travis, our tour guide, picked us up at the cruise port in a small air conditioned shuttle bus. There were only 10 people on this tour. One lady in the group didn’t get off the bus at all the stops and missed out on seeing several of the highlights that required extended walking. She did not wear the recommended proper shoes and appeared to have some mobility issues. We recommend you bring your own snacks. They supplied bottled water but no lunch. Our last stop was The Big Island Candy Company and they had a snack bar where you could purchase a variety of beverages, including smoothies, and a few food options. Before getting back on the bus at our last stop Josh gave everyone 2 small bags of hawaiian style chips, purple potato and taro. It was a long day but we really enjoyed all the sights and stops and would recommend to anyone that does not have mobility issues.

Got on the Hoppa On Hoppa Off bus tour. Small town, after walking around and visiting shops (it was Sunday morning and most didn't open until 10:00) got the bus back to the ship. We then got on the provided shuttle to Walmart! Bought souvenirs and came back to the ship. Enjoyed ourselves.

Took the helicopter tour of the volcano. Fun helicopter ride. Disappointing volcano views - there was some lava, but not much. We were told ahead of time to wear dark clothing to reduce the glare from inside the helicopter, which we did. Unfortunately the people sitting in the seat in front of us did not and there was a lot of glare from their white shirts. Speak up before you take off if you experience this and they will be provided with dark shirts to cover their white shirts.

Loved seeing the volcano area of the island. Macadamia Nut Factory had much lower prices that onboard for nuts and Kona coffee.
