This was another port we visited on our own time. The old town was within walking distance of the ship. We had a great time.

We loved this town too. Really enjoyed the bike ride we had booked through United Cruises. We had a great guide (Rasmuss) who was knowledgeable and spoke superb English. He readily answered all kinds of questions about history and culture and current living in Tallinn. He took us around the sights outside of the old town with a few stops for info and pictures, and then continued on to the walled old town. We had found out from another review that we could drop off our bikes in the old town for three Euros each rather than riding back to the cruise ship so we could spend time on our own in old town and then walk back to the ship. This was a good option, and for the extra three Euros, it was easy to find the bike shop in the old town, then enjoy a couple more hours in old town for lunch and wandering before an easy walk back. We "lost" some folks in our group who missed a turn on the way into old town and had a few nervous moments when an ambulance approached was stopped as we waited for them to join. Part of the ride into the old town is on cobblestones and narrow streets, so care must be taken to pay attention as you ride, both to the street and to the guide. In most ports of call, there will be a souvenir shop very close to the dock. The one in Tallinn was one of the best and had some great gifts by local artists.

We walked into the old city from the cruise dock. The old city is rather well preserved having escaped major damage during WWII. We followed the walking tour outlined in Rick Steves guide, and included a visit to the Museum of Estonian History in the old Guild Hall. If you know nothing about Estonia this is a place to stop. The exhibits use a lot of interactive visual presentations. Very well done for this type of museum.

This is a great city to just wander around taking in the fine churches, the views from the old part ramparts are wonderful. In the main square sits a person dressed as a goat with a wooden mouth intimidating people walking past. A walk around the city wall is a must. The shuttle bus from the terminal is only a short journey.

Great diverse European port. Not as expensive as other European ports. Easy to access on foot if you have no mobility issues

A charming little city. Love the old town. You don't need a tour guild for this port. get a map and walk around. ***attention***You should buy your gifts here. They are cheaper than St-Peters burg. I bought handmade soaps and sheep leather. Captain said it wasn't safe to sail to Russia at the end of 1st day. We stayed 2 days there instead of 1.

We walked into the Old Town and explored by ourselves, went to the Museum which was interesting, then walked outside of the wall to the modern city. Very interesting.
