We have been to Capri many times, and did this on our own, taking the Hydrofoil from Naples (about €20 each way) and did the island boat tour to the Blue, Green and White Grottoes and Fariglioni Rocks (€17 pp), + admittance to the Blue Grotto in a tiny boat (€7). Hung atound the harbor a bit, ate lunch, took the Funicular up to Capri from the port (€1.80). We did not have time to go up to Anacapri and ride the Seggovia Lift Chair this time, but it is a magical experience floating up the mountain with views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Up top are more great views of the Fariglioni Rocks, and the Doctor’s Mansion (I can’t remember his name) tour and gardens is pretty awesome. Little art galleries, Limoncello tasting (tastes like heaven, with lemons) and the scent of frangipani will leave you wanting to stay forever!

Naples is my least favorite Italian city. There are a lot of gypsies and pickpockets. A lot of port construction. Get out of the city.

I did a short tour around the city. It did not appear to be very clean. The noise and the traffic was horrendous! Took a trip to Herculaneum. That was fantastic. A great alternative to the excursion to Pompeii if you don’t want to do a full day.

We chose the optional “Sorrento and Pompeii” excursion. Beautiful and informative. Guide was very good. Highly recommend.

The trip to Pompeii was really worth the effort. If you have a sense of history you will be overwhelmed here. It is a bit "R" or even "X" rated for the children. Do your homework before you decide to take preteens or even young teens through the brothels, etc.

Visited Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius for a really great day out, Vesuvius is a lot steeper when walking up it than it looks and a little longer than the “20 minutes stroll” the guide told us. Pompeii was extremely hot with no breeze and in the high 30’s so drink/take plenty of water

Very impressed with Naples as it's full of culture, heritage and history. Lost count of how many churches there are and navigating all of the old streets can keep you occupied for hours! It's often said that Naples is dirty, but it's no dirtier than any other Italian city such as Rome or Venice.

We did a private shore excursion to Capri, Positano and Pompeii. What a great day!!! If you go to Capri, definitely do the Blue Grotto experience. It was one of our favorites. I didn't love Positano as much as I thought I would but Pompeii was crazy good! Could spend a whole day there with a good guide!
