We walked from the port to the train station (25 minute walk) and caught the train to Pompeii. It was very crowded even though we caught a 9:00 train. It took about 45 min to get there for about 4 euro each. Once there, our private tour guide was waiting for us with a sign with my name on it. It is about a 5 minute walk to Pompeii. We hired her for 3 hours and it was amazing. We had been here about 13 years ago with a large group and this was by far much better. I can provide you with her contact if you would like. Once the tour was over she walked us back to the train station and we headed back to naples. We ate pizza at a restaurant on the way to the ship. We really enjoyed this part of our trip.

Ok, so let me say this right out of the box. The Port of Naples is incredibly dirty, industrial, and smells awful. The amount of trash in the water was a sight. So don't be as shocked as I was. We found a taxi to Pompeii, and he dropped us off and came back in 2 hours to pick us up. He was a really great and funny guy. We didn't have to pay him up front, only when he dropped us off back at the port. A word of advice, if you want a private taxi, be prepared to pay handsomely and in Euros. They don't want a credit card or American Dollars (which honestly I find anyone trying to pay in US currency to be presumptuous) Pompeii was incredible! I wish we had more time, and it had been a bit cooler. I could have wondered about the alleys for hours. Just absorbing what the people went through to what was let behind so beautifully preserved. This is a MUST see.

Island of Capri Wonderful and easy to navigate. Really friendly and pretty. The mini buses that take you to Anacapri are really odd to look at. Really busy when we went, which made it a bit crowded but well worth a visit. Be warned the public transport ferry from Naples is a bit of a shock after a luxury cruise ship.

Absolutely loved naples. Yes it may not be the cleanest city but then most big cities aren't anyway. It felt much less touristy than rome and really enjoyed just wandering around the cobbled roads. There's so much to do from this port - next time we come back we will do a day trip to capri

We took the tour to Capri... We were an hour and a half late going on the tour which really took away our shopping time on the island. The restaurant that we were taken to was not good food at all !! We were expecting delicious Italian food and we were given a piece of chicken that tasted like rubber and the pasta had no taste. I would highly recommend the ship going to a different restaurant because I heard many people say that the food was not good..
