Our main reason for taking this cruise was to see the Amalfi Coast and it didn't disappoint. However, I was not pleased with the tour guide at first. We booked this through Cruises Only because of the reviews and being able to see all of the coast. First of all, the tour guide was late. This was an all day tour and I knew it was cutting it close to get back to the ship. This was supposed to be a small group, but then they let us to a different bus in which we had to walk a few blocks. After that, we had to pick up two other sets of people and with Naples traffic stalled us an additional hour before we got on the road! The tour guide did not say anything, or apologized for the delay! I was furious! This was to be my highlight of the trip and if they were going to have to skip a stop, I was really going to be upset. However, she assured us we would do/see it all, so on we went. Yes, the traffic was awful, but the views were spectacular! Glad that it turned out to be a nice day, with visits to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, with lunch and a boat ride which we didn't expect. It was great but still worried we wouldn't get back to the ship on time. The driver took another way back and got us there half hour before boarding time. Whew!

We didn't stay in Naples- instead we went to Pompeii on our own. Definitely cheaper than doing the excursion from the boat, but you have to be comfy navigating foreign public transit on your own. Be prepared to walk a lot in Pompeii our feet were pretty unhappy when we got back to the boat- it was also really hot when we were there, but it was till a cool experience.

Naples is a great port, you’re close to many interesting thing. I took a ferry to Capri and bus to Ana Capri. Absolutely gorgeous! Great food, views, shopping, and friendly people.

We didn't see Napoli, but did have a scenic drive to Sorrento and Positano and then saw Pompeii in the afternoon. Unfortunately the first rain in a month put a very little damper on the morning, we truly enjoyed it. Positano is the beginning of the Amalfi coast and is so pretty and picturesque, I would defintely recommend it. Sorrento was a fun town, wish we'd had more time. Pompeii is much bigger and has more than you can see in a couple of hours. We had an excellent guide Lucio who contracts with Rome in Limo. Our guide Mario, from Rome in Limo was the best!!! He was very knowledgeable, is a cerfitied guide and driver. He bought us a wonderful treat called Sfogliatella. If you're in Positano stop in a bakery and get one they are delicious. When he picked us back up after lunch and siteseeing in Sorrento, he brought us a bottle of Limoncello and olive oil as a gift to us. He was a very kind and polite gentleman and I would highly recommend him as a guide. He also does walking foodie tours in Naples so maybe on our next trip!

Arranged a private driver through Visit Amalfi Coast - Mario & Glauco showed us Napoli and my family felt this was the best day of our trip (which is saying something). We started at St. Elmo's and worked our way back to the city center. Toured the underground, ate great pizza, and learned a lot about the city. Most would take off for the Amalfi Coast and while that too is spectacular, don't underestimate how cool Napoli is - especially when you have a great tour guide to show you around.
