This is ostensibly Hamburg's port although, Hamburg actually does have a port. So you have to walk a mile (even though there are much closer docks) to the train station to take an hour or so train to Hamburg.

Kiel itself not really interesting. However, we arrived as The Kieler Woche (The week of Kiel) began. It is the world's largest sail regatta with 1000s of boats and ship participating. Fantastic experience

Hamburg was a truly beautiful and friendly city.

First time here and not as industrialised as I imagined. If you walk through the park opposite the cruise terminal, you'll find a free museum. The town is very busy with lots of stores. We visited the maritime monument and U Boat in Laboe. Neither suitable for those with limited mobility.

Nothing to do. We walked around and played Pokémon with my youngest and went back to the ship early.

Hamburg was not a great stop. Nice town but not interesting. Shore excursion was boring and not worth the expense..

I took an excursion from Kiel to Hamburg which was a very interesting city. Again, I didn't have nearly as much time as I would have liked, but it was a fascinating place I would visit again.
