Walked in to town which is about 15 minutes away along the port. Lovely town, we went to the market and stocked up on olive oil and honey.

We had been told that unless on a P&O excursion it is rather difficult to access so as we had been to lots of ports and had been very busy. We chose to stay on the ship and enjoy the facilities on board.

I've been to Crete on several occasions and feel it has blended culture with modern life and tourism well. We visited Knossos and had a great time. The guide was enthusiastic and really made the excursion interesting with his knowledge & sense of humour. Although much of the site has been replicated, it still evoked how life would have been for this ancient civilisation especislly due to the setting being picturesque. There was a pit stop afterwards to wander around the town where we went to a cafe and took in local life until the coach returned us to the ship.

Knossos was very interesting, but the port wasn’t as expected, not too interesting

I staying on the ship this day, but as in Piraeus, for those who were wanting to go into Heraklion independently, there were shuttle buses available from right beside the ship going in to the town and back again throughout the day.

Visited Knossos on public transport, and had an amazing time. Had to wait for the return trip, and the bar across the way was a good place to wait?!
