We felt like we were in the Viking River Cruise commercial when we cruised into Budapest in the morning. Such a spectacular view of all the unique buildings. The Panoramic Budapest tour with Kinga, our local guide, far exceeded my expectations. This was not a high site on my list, however, it was my second favorite port on the vacation. Kinga provided interesting insights into the history of Buda and Pest, as well as her own family's different experiences in more recent times. St. Matthias Church and St. Stephen's Basilica were rich with history and opulence The Budapest Thermal Bath excursion was just what the doctor ordered after all of the walking we had done thus far. I finally had relief from the bursitis and inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis - I definitely need to investigate mineral springs back home. It was such a unique experience and one I hope to repeat again. The Szentendre & Open Air Museum excursion provided us with opportunity to purchase Hungarian goods from local artists and farmers, as well as look into the lives of Hungarians over time. A Taste of Budapest provided a visit to Parliament, walking tour of monuments, market place, and local cuisine. Susan, our tour guide provided historical information and personal history of her grandparents and parents and their varied experiences of Nazi occupation, Communist "liberation", and final freedom thanks to Reagan. The personal stories provided much intrigue.

We took a city tour by bus through these two great cities (Buda and Pest). There was so much to see and experience, and we were glad to have two full days there. Our last night on the ship, the captain took a slow tour down the river to see how beautiful Budapest is all lit up at night.

Loved Budapest. We took the 2 day after-cruise package and took a wonderful food tour that I found on Trip Advisor which went through the Jewish ghetto.

The ship approaches the city at about 10 pm -- the view of the city, its historical buildings and bridges all lit up, is incomparable and amazing. The city itself during the day also has lots to see, and the history is interesting.

excellent. the hotel had air conditioning problems so all of the guests were without airconditioning and it was quite warm. the management staff could have been more pro active and at least inform viking before hand with options.

We did the add on extension and it was worth the price, as the hotel was great and it gave us a few additional days, which in a city like Budapest, is a must as there is so much to see, especially in our case as the ship could not dock in Budapest. Castle Hill was a great place to stay. We went to the thermal baths, and it was fun, but crowded. St. Stephan's is a must see, as is Dohany Synagogue.
