Gibraltar (U.K.) Port Reviews

This was BAD and UGLY as we did not stop for this port after our transatlantic voyage!!! There were ship issues that had been going on for 48 hours and we did not stop and we only got notice the morning of. Those who had planned excursions found out only hours before their excursion. There is no official credit or real apology for missing a port.

Awesome place full of history

Disappointed to find out that the visit was only from 0800 to 1330 as this was the port that the ship used to embark fuel. It is a 20 minute walk to town. There is a shuttle bus that operates to town if you do not want to walk the Charge is £4 or 6 euros return. The horizon leaflet will inform you to use euros in this port my advice is use British money as the Shops prefer sterling. Berthed here on a Sunday so shops did not open until 1000. So everything was a rush if you wanted to do shopping and an excursion. If you just want to do the cable car to the top of the rock. You can get a bus from the casements to the cable car and go to the top own your own. The tour operators ashore or cheaper than the excursions arranged on board. Not long enough In the port. We did our own thing here as had been here before several times

Waste of time, very expensive. Currency here was British Pound

Girbalter was a good port. We did a bus tour and saw a few of the sites. The bus dropped us of downtown, and we wandered around for a bit and walked back to the cruise ship. It was very low stress.

Gibraltar was fantastic, we took a tour to Europa Point lighthouse at sunrise, which was spectacular, followed by the cable car to the top of the rock. This was nice and quiet and gave amazing views. We then walked around the delightful town before returning to the ship.

We couldn't make this pport of call because of problems with electronic systems aboard that slowed our speed. They had to cancel this excursion. It was very dissappointing, especially since we had concluded 9 sea days and were really looking forward to an excursion to a place I;ve never been.

Saw the monkeys. Not enough time there.

didn't make it to the Gibralter citadel itself but the excursion up and around Gibralter itself was educational and enjoyable. We took particular notice of the lack of graffiti that seems to mar every other place. Way to go Gibralter

Gibraltar was nothing like I expected. A U.K territory on the Spanish peninsular, it has a very cosmopolitan feel. You will hear British accents and well as Spanish spoken. The town is clean and a mix of old world and modern. A beautiful square with plenty of shops and cafe's is within walking distance and it is a very pleasant walk. You can also opt for an excursion to the top of the Rock and see the monkeys...the only wild monkeys in Europe.
