Spent about one hour in Durnsteim which for me seemed like a tourist trap to buy apricot snaps. Then we turned around in the other direction to get to the monastery in Melk which was outstanding. I think it would/ve been better if we spent the entire excursion in Melk the town as well as the abbey.

Went to Durnstein. Very small town and not much to do. Visited Melk Abbey as well.

The trip to Melk Abby was great. We learned a lot about the early church coming north from Italy. The daytime cruising was fantastic. Wine tasting and learning about the local farms was excellent.

Our excursion included a city tour of Durnstein which is very small and quaint. Then we boarded the bus across the river to visit the Melk Abbey. Photos are not allowed to be taken inside.

My favorite of the trip. Everyone we talked too wanted more time for shopping and enjoying this area.

Don't miss the Melk Abbey and its incredible library ... or the Mozart and Strauss concert at night

probably my favorite. We toured Greinburg Castle and had a private show with local Austrian traditional folk dancers.
