we have been Docked at various points of the river from the 25th April bridge near a nice marina area with restaurants and bars, all the way up beyond the bridge near Jerónimos Monastery, the resting place of Vasco da gama. Either way its an interesting walk to the main drag. We avoid the main road preferring to head up hill off the main road then wander through the narrower streets, we have found many a nice watering hole that way.

I think it depends on which cruise company you're with. I've been twice (first with Royal Caribbean, and second with P&O) and the seemed to have docked in different places. 😕

I have been with P&O twice and both times was a 10 minute walk to the big square. Nice and handy to just walk off.
