Would love to go back. Quaint, lovely Island, Bird of Paradise and huge variety of flowers all over the island. Roads around the island can be hairy. Hooray for the bus drivers

Stunning. Catch the cable car up and toboggan down. So much fun. Don't walk back to the ship from bottom if toboggan run, get a taxi. We made this mistake, it's miles!! Footy fans: Ronaldo CR7 museum is an easy walk from ship

This was our favorite port stop on our transatlantic cruise. We loved the local wine. We prefer a sweeter wine and they have three levels of sweetness with every bottle labeled to indicate sweetness or if it is on the drier side. Incredible scenery and very clean.

My first time in Funchal. I walked up to the Botanical Gardens (nice! Plants from all over the world) where I took the funicular to the top (Monte, where the other funicular also arrives, the one that starts out down at sea level). Then I walked down along the street where the sleds come down - much fun watching the excited and screaming passengers come by. Quite a climb and descent, good exercise with great views. We had two days there, so I got to walk the city streets, old and new. Didn't get out of town - maybe next time?

Easy to go round Funchal on our own. Did the farmers market and botanical gardens which was well worth it

We took the Hop On Hop Off bus since we had been there before. Stopped at a cafe and had a poncha. Be careful, don’t drink more than one..
