recommend the rather strenuous Pulpit Rock excursion. We saw others who booked this trip independently and might have saved money. Since there is a ferry involved, be certain of the arrangements or one might miss the ship departure.

OLD TOWN is so interesting.. the walking tour then bus excursion was great as we had a wonderful guide. She was very proud of Stavanger. Where you dock is right across from OLD TOWN so you can watch the coming and going with ease from the ship. The largest of the Norway Port cities were visited.

We took the bus (16) out to the Swords in the rock monument, ten minute ride. Cash only on bus, but can use card payment at terminal (alongside the lake) Two buses an hour. Highly recommend.

Great town for a little walk around lots of hidden little roads with lovely shops.

Visited the village of Byrkjedalstunet to a former cheese factory converted to a restaurant and candle makers and hotel. Ate Norwegian lappers ( similar to US pancakes) with coffee, very good! Excellent chandlery and Xmas shop, also there is a small petting zoo. On the way back to ship went through Gloppedalsuren Boulder Field impressive!

Due to bad weather we just did a little walk around, bought a few touristy bits and walked back to ship. The ship is docked right here so no need for transfers to see little town.
