This is a fantastic city that is built on many different islands so you cross a lot of bridges. We did two princess tours here because of the visa requirements. Both tours were enjoyable and led by knowledgeable guides. The Hermitage museum was a mad house filled with tours (there were two other ships in port at the same time). The Czar certainly built a beautiful city. However if he would have spent half his money on his people maybe his family would have survived. BTW you have passport control both leaving and returning to the ship. Found the people friendly and engaging, the passport control people never smiled they just performed their duties.

Loved Russia! We did a tour separately from the ship, going through TJ Travel and it was wonderful. I was a little worried because the know the ship can give you issues when not choosing their excursions, and it is a port with more restrictions. We had an easy time getting to our non-ship excursion, saved literally hundreds, saw everything on our list and had great guides! So much to see in St Petersburg. I highly recommend this port.

Loved Russia, we visited the winter palace, amazing. Also went to a folk show in the evening, this was also great to see traditional dancing and singing. On day 2 we had a shopping trip and had lunch in the Singer building, excellent time in Russia

We used a 2 day package from Shore Excursions Group for half the price of the HAL package. We could not have been happier with our excursion. St Petersburg was definitely the highlight stop of the entire cruise. Unfortunately, we really needed at least 4 days to cover everything, so be prepared for a whirlwind tour!

This is one of the best ports I've ever been to. The port area is huge and the buildings are very modern. There are some small shops restrooms inside. When you leave the terminal you get to the bus stop. You CANNOT leave the port without Visa or prebooked excursion. The passport control is sometimes very fast and sometimes very slow. You will get an white letter (don't lose it!!!) And an stamp in your passport) if you come back to the ship you will have to pass an fast security check which is very chaotic because there is only one scanner and the don't speak English there. So they will push you threw the scanner with the annoyed word " Sorry! Sorry! Sorry" but in this case sorry means "Hurry up!" . And remember to always wait behind the red line at the passport check, otherwise you will get in trouble. If you want to know more about the excursions read my review about the MSC Meraviglia

No official accessible tours offered by Princess. Went on private tour from Liberty Tours, who specialise in accessible tours. It was excellent. In large taxi sharing with a guy in a wheelchair from another ship which brought the cost. Liberty organised the sharing and offered the chance to team up to reduce cost. Lots of Gold on and in buildings in St. Petersburg hence title of review
