Used the cruises.com excursion website (for the first time) and selected a private excursion/tour which was FANTASTIC! Our family of four (all adults) had our own van, driver, and superb English speaking tour guide!

Well, a weekend is not enough here. Fabulous place, great history, great architecture. Took in most of the typical tour options. Church of the Spilled Blood looked lovely with its onion domes; St Isaac's was gorgeous inside; nice meal at the Academia Banquet Hall including red caviar, questionable vodka, some decent folk singing; Hermitage was overwhelming in its size and amount to see (easy to get tired of it but the trip was just about right in length); ballet was absolutely incredible (go for the upgraded option to get into one of the older theatres); second day we settled for a canal boat tour which was excellent. Tip: don't buy hats or dolls from street vendors; the souvenir shop as you enter the port has better prices.

We had amazing 2 day excursions booked through Royal Caribbean. Our bus was split into 2 groups. Our tour guide Tatiania was outstanding. The places we visited were fantastic. Loved hearing all the history. The river cruise was great. Will definitely be going back again, 2 days just isn't enough to see everything. Lots more places to visit in this stunning city!

Best stop on the trip! Booked ahead of time through Royal Caribbean. Nicholas and Anastasia were awesome. Long days but worth the money! We saw more sites than what is presented on the itinerary.

There is truly something amazing to look at around every corner! Beautiful architecture and churches. Lovely parks, statues and fountains. The Hermitage is a must see it is spectacular. We had a great coach driver who gave us a great tour. For a city of five million it didn't appear too busy, despite the football match that evening, or maybe we were just lucky. Once your past the huge blocks of flats on the city outskirts it is an amazing place to visit.

Excellent experience. Totally enjoyed the history and culture. Visit Peterhoff- it’s a must. We had no problems with customs despite the stories we had heard prior to sailing.
