The only complaint is that there is not sufficient time to explore all of the historical sites. I would recommend trying to get a day tour to the Hermitage and then spend the other day visiting the other major castles and cathedrals. We had about three hours in Hermitage which is not even time to appreciate. We were told that you had to use rubles and that credit cards (U.S.A.) or euros were not accepted. This is not true we had no problem using credit cards or euros.

Beautiful architecture that gets boring after you've seen one. Understanding their history is not justification for keeping the city in this over-dramatized condition.

Petrofs Palace and Catherine's Palace and of course the Main reason we went was to see the HErmitage. St Petersburgh was beautiful but buildings need to be cleaned up. It's a different world from ours. Glad we saw it.

Did a 2 day tour through Alla a couple of years ago. A smaller group is the way to go as many of the sites were crowded. It included a short trip on the subway, a boat ride, a trip to the Faberge museum and most of the other popular sights. We also added a folk show on the first night. Long days but it was worth it.

Unser Ausflug zum Pushkin-Schlo mit Rundfahrt auf der Neva und kleiner Stadtrundfahrt mit dem Bus hat sich - auch dank der guten Reisefhrerin Swetlana - sehr gelohnt. Der Unterschied zwischen goldenen Kuppeln und rmlichen Hochhaussiedlungen ist krass.
