you have a distance to travel. it was over an hour. i would not schedule a flight before mid afternoon. you don't want any delays to cause you to miss your flight.

4 pm at the earliest. We've done that journey, and we very nearly missed our flight. You may dock at 7 but it could take hours to get off the ship, clear immigration, wait for the buses to fill and then do the two hour plus ride to a very busy airport in a very busy city. Remember, you need to be at the airport at least 4 hours before departure on an international flight.

it's 65 miles from Southampton to Heathrow, currently there are roadworks en-route so is taking at least 2 hours, look at mid afternoon.

I would book a flight after 1 pm..Heathrow is at least 2 hrs away by bus.

Mid to late afternoon at least. Personally, I wouldn't have a flight booked until 5:00pm or even later for an international flight at LHR. That airport can be a cluster. Pay for lounge access and enjoy your time, unless you have an emergency at home.

Princess cruises gave time departure guidelines for international travel. The earliest was 1pm. We booked 6 pm to be safe. We have been delayed on that route back to the airport before.

you probably won't disembark until after 09.00 so to give you time to get to Heathrow may be after 14.00 !

also as at guest services when on board or check with Princess before you leave

Our return flight to Salt Lake City was 3:10pm and we had plenty of time to be at Heathrow before 12pm (3 hrs before international flight). We booked a transfer to LHR waiting for us when we disembarked at 9:00am.

The cruise ships offer a bus ride to airport. Very crowded. We contacted The Black Cab in advance and they were waiting for us. Very comfortable ride 2.5 hrs due to construction ! Good conversation for $50 more than bus. He got us right to door loaded luggage off and was there plenty of time for our 3:30 international flight!! However when we do this again???? We will get a room close to Heathrow. See some of England and arrive plenty if time NON Stressed!!

That port and route to Heathrow is very congested and slow. We had priority disembarkation on Celebrity which docked at 5am. We headed down at 7:30 and on a quick bus at 7:45 but so busy it was almost 2 hours to get to airport for 1:10pm flight. We had enough time to sit in an airport lounge. Arranged our early ride in advance through the ship. Our bus was specifically for early flights. If you can walk off your own luggage, you can get off ship the earliest.

We decided to eliminate stress and we stayed a night in Southampton after the cruise. We took the train up to Salisbury and did some sightseeing for the day. Had a great time and then the next day took the National Express coach up to Heathrow. We did not want the stress of trying to get off a ship and get to an airport and get on a plane to fly internationally all in one day. Worked great for us.
