We did the waterfall hike through the ship on this tour. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5. It took about an hour to get to the waterfall area. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke at length about Molde. I was a little disappointed that we were on such a tight schedule for the hike. We were given 30 minutes up and 30 minutes to get back. My husband and I are in pretty good shape and live in the mountains in the US and go hiking. We had no problems getting up to the landing, but would have loved to have been able to go a bit further or have spent a little more time. There were several people who didn't make it up all the way as it's got a good incline and I felt bad for them. We had a meal included and the restaurant was fabulous. Probably the best meatballs I have EVER eaten. It was run by a family and they were so friendly. It's right beside a lake with breathtaking views of the mountains. Our guide then spoke at length on the way back....I personally would have preferred some quiet on the way back. We did have some time to go into the town shopping when we got back from the tour. Pretty area with loads of flowers everywhere. Lots of stores with various selections for every budget.

Opted to walk city including outdoor Romsdal Museum of 40 relocated bldgs, some with narrators describing various times & customs. Missed option of tour to Haholmen Island & Atlantic Ocean Road; "City of Roses" blooms in July.

We took the excursion to hike up to Mardal waterfall, which was sold as an easy walk, but was fairly demanding. But absolutely worth it. The guide, however, as another story, and got us back quite late (too late for the included tour to Romsdal Open Air museum). Fortunately, Viking learned from their many complaints, and had arranged a bus to take those of us who were too late for the regular tour to take us to Romsdal. So we got to see some of it, even though we were too late for the dance program, and even had time to walk around downtown (because we convinced the bus driver to drop us off in town rather than taking us back to the ship to take a shuttle back to downtown) before taking the shuttle back to the bus.

This port location is terrible. Mixed with cargo ships, docking containers, not a good sight. The excursion was absolutely disaster. An hour bus ride to see the bridge for 15 mins, let alone, using the restroom takes 5 mins already. An hour bus ride to see the anchor for another 15 mins, an hour bus ride back in town. By the time we got back in town, everyone was exhausted. The bus ride went around town, up and down the hills, made some of us motion sickness. We were about to throw up in the bus. Horrible, horrible experience.

Took a private excursion to see the Atlantic Road. There is a loop circuit to walk around and get good pictures of the although I'm not sure where the pamphlets get that nice curved viewpoint of the bridge. When we got back we hiked uphill for a viewpoint over the city. There is a nice marked trail that is a steep hike for some amazing views but would take at least 2-3 hours but we didn't have time so only did half way to the first real lookout
