We went to this stopover 2 times. The port is very close to the beginning of the city. At the port it is offered a map of the city with a circuit to visit the city on foot. If you ever visit this city, be sure to eat at the Retti I Garnet restaurant located at the entrance, very close to the fish market. The salmon and trout are deliciously good! On the website of the port it is offered a walking tour to visit the city.

Walk right around the coast of Kristiansand and then back wander through the quaint streets with wooden houses to the centre where there is a cathedral and excellent selection of stores and restaurants. Public toilets cost 10 krona which can be paid by a card not cash.

Had never heard of this town. We did the Cannon museum and city walk. We had expected a lot of historic cannons but were pleasantly surprised by this being an old WW2 German bunker complete with the worlds second largest cannon. All the bunkers were authentic and you could touch the cannon, shells etc. There was even an officers room (behind glass) with all its original features- well worth seeing and they should consider changing the name of the tour. Nice port area for walking too.

Cute little town to walk around in. Went on a Rib ride to an island. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared a great deal about the history and preservation of the WWII site.
