We had engine failure and didn’t get here until 3:30. So by the time we got to Dublin everything was closed. But the hop on hop off bus saved us and we got to see at least a few things. Gotta make the most out of a bad situation.

Our cruise ship was far from the city so I recommend that you take a tour to see the city. We toured the Guinness Storehouse & the view of the city from the top floor is worth the visit. The included pint of Guinness is nice. Other options of beverages are available.

We tour Dublin Castle and went to the Guinness Brewery. Both are worth seeing, especially the Guinness Brewery. Be sure and go to the skybar on the roof to have a fresh cold Guinness. Also a couple of hours for Guinness as they have many fun things to see and do and it was fairly crowded, twenty minute wait times for most things... learning to pour Guinness from the tap, a tasting room, etc. My daughter went on the PowersCourt and Waterfall trip and enjoyed it.

It is not an official excursion, but I highly recommend visiting Kilmainham Gaol, just an easy taxi ride from city center. We learned so much about Ireland's struggles for independence and got to see where so much history happened. Also, be sure to eat lunch in a pub and have a pint of Guinness!

Two full days due to the overnight left plenty of time for exploring. Temple Bar is the night spot, but lots of great pubs and restaurants to please everyone.
