Book early if you can - and get a tour of the Hypogeum incredibly ancient Neolithic bronze-age temple (they only allow a few visitors per month). Failing that - hop on hop off bus will get you a lot for a little.

Overnighted here. Worth the time...beautiful place. Strolled the city, toured Fort Elmo (a must for me as a military buff), motor coached the island, had a beer at a nice spot with some folks from back home who happenstanced to be on the same cruise as we were. Also did the evening harbour cruise with a local boat tour. That was NICE!!! Another magnet and ball cap --- woohoo!!!

The greatest surprise of this trip was Malta. It was our favorite stop. What a fascinating place it is...with interesting history, nice people, great food and excellent shopping. I wish we'd had more time there.

The port is right at the edge of the city. Be sure to be outside to watch coming into port. So beautiful! We did the Hop on Hop Off bus and took the long red route to the other side of the island. We loved driving through the fields, seeing olive trees, seeing the old port with the colorful boats. We stopped at the blue Grotto for a beautiful view of the sea. It took most of our time to get back to Valetta. We only had about 1 hour to explore the streets of Valetta.

Malta is beautiful but disorganized for cruises! Book tender early. We waited too long and decided not to go. Great decision as it was so hot and people said long lines and congestion so it was miserable.

Nice place, we saw st pauls catacomb, madia and st johns cathedral. What ever you do, do not, i repeat do not take the red hop on hop off bus. Take the blue one. We ended up taking a cab. We finally saw a red bus at 1pm outside madia mdin entrance and their was no driver. We waiting around 30 min and another bus shows up. Took 90 more min to get back to the docks. Red bus sucked so bad.
