I didn't see the port, but the excursions in this region are amazing. I've done both Pompeii and Herculaneum. Pompeii is massive (and very little shade!), but a must-see. Herculaneum is a much more contained site and they're actually re-building some of the ancient structures there to help you visualize what they would've looked like 2,000 years ago. Both are impressive.

went to the Amalfi on a boat, it was ok, could barely hear the guide and what she was telling us.

Not as impressive as Rome, but we still got to go to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompei; both significant stops. My only bit of suggestion, if you are climbing the volcano, dress for the weather and prepare for rapidly changing conditions!

We went on a full day excursion and saw Salerno and Pompeii. The architecture is beautiful and Pompeii is amazing. We had pizza at a local restaurant - and it was very good.

Loved our excursion of taking a boat ride down the coast and stopping in Amalfi which was beautiful.

We did the Amalfi Coast cruise and Pompeii. The boat ride up the coast and the visit to Amalfi was wonderful. The coastal scenes were beautiful and we were very glad we did this. Pompeii is always wonderful and I highly recommend you visit this peek into the ancient city.
