My absolute favorite port of the entire trip! The Acropolis was well worth the climb, the food was delicious, and we got lost trying to walk around, but it was so much fun! Can’t wait to return next year!

Spent a great day in Athens. My son and I are history and mythology buffs so this was a great place for us. Just to be around all that history was truly inspiring. We hired a private driver from Private Greek Tours and could not have been happier. Got to all the places we wanted to see before the ship excursion crowds, and he took us to an awesome local place to eat lunch. He even made sure we got to a Starbucks to get our collectible mug.

Athens was kind of old and dirty but the changing of the guards is a must see!

Make sure to use Uber €15 from port to acropolis otherwise taxis will rip you off. Others paid €50! Beautiful area once there, museum and restaurants

Unique journey in the Aegean Sea. The blue of the sea with the white houses make a unique backdrop. The most beautiful and glamorous in the world. Wonderful trip with the Celestyal Cruises and mainly with the Olympia Celestyal. I recommend it for all want to cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and the Greek Islands.

I took a ship disembarkation tour. We drove through the city and went to the acropolis. To get to the site you have to climb some stairs and then once you are there the ground is uneven and can be slick. Several in the group had trouble maintaining their balance. The tour guide was good but long winded. There is a lot of restoration work going on at the site and it was a little disappointing not to be able to see it in all its glory. When given time to wander I enjoyed the views and took some great photos overlooking the city. It started to rain and we had to be careful as we went back down. I did get a great frozen strawberry lemonade from a stand. We did have to wait for the bus as there was only room for a few busses at a time. We then went to the airport and we arrived in plenty of time for those who had flights after 3.

Yesterday we were in Pireaus for Athens. After our outing, here's our advice. Walk left from port towards the open top buses. We took the blue bus, Sights of Athens, which cost €30 for myself, my wife & 11 year old son. For the journey back to port, you have to change buses at The Acropolis, so what we would recommend is to stay on the bus for the complete tour, and then get off to visit The Acropolis on the buses return to that stop. The Acropolis will be a lot quieter to visit then as well, & once you've seen it, you can just join the bus to the port.

We had another semi-private independent full day excursion, and we're very glad because they made it very efficient to cover a lot of ground in Athens. The port is pretty far from the Acropolis and the majority of sites that we wanted to see, and we were glad not to have to deal with public transportation to get around to where we wanted to go.

The view from the cruise ship is something else - all those white shimmering buildings baking in the sun....We were there in September and it was still incredibly hot! 38 degrees Celsius. We opted for a walking tour in Athens and I'm so glad we did. Our guide was an archeology student and we saw some great places, too many to mention - we also had free time to walk around the Plaka and do some shopping. A very enjoyable day all round!
