Had to embark on this port and nobody could tell me where to get onto the ship. A taxi driver helped us out.

We took the “Explore Athens and Ancient Acropolis” excursion. Enjoyed the Acropolis but very crowded. If you want to visit it, take a ship excursion and go as early as possible. If you have problems with crowds and/or lines I would avoid.

I booked tickets at my own. Did not take cruise excursions.

This city is massive! We went to the Parthenon and it was amazing. But so many people it was elbow to elbow.

Crowded city, lots of traffic and ugly graffiti. We did the hop-on-hop-off bus, which worked well for us. The National Gardens was not crowded and very nice respite from the city traffic. Also stopped by the Areopagus (Mars Hill) near the Acropolis which had beautiful views.

Athens is one of my favorite cities. Take the public port to city bus number X80 that drops you at the Acropolis. We had done the ancient ruins before so we walked a bit to see Hadrian's arch and onto one of the best private art collections I have ever seen at Goulandris (?) foundation.
