Least impressive port and excursion.

We actually arrive in Athens 3 days prior to our cruise and stayed in the Plaka district on our own. Highly recommend people doing this. It allows you to adjust to any time differences and it is a wonderful city with lots to see and do!

Good place to go in and out of with plenty to see.

My excursion was cancelled because of the Athens marathon which was very disappointing

Didn't get to see Istanbul because of a marathon and all excursions and many street we cancelled/blocked off......however others were good to excellent, particularly the 'Night Concert at Ephesus'.....

We took a ship excursion, but easily could have booked a taxi tour. We went to the Plaka. I was not going to go up to Acropolis, but they now have an elevator that sits 2 people. Unfortunately, it broke while we were at the top and we had to walk down, which was extremely dangerous for me. I couldn't bear weight on my leg (used 2 canes for ambulation) and we couldn't walk back to the Plaka. Finally saw a Horse/carriage and paid 20 Eu to get back to the starting point. However, there was a Gyro open air small place right at the start and they Gyro was to die for. Worth the whole trip and only 3.80 Eu for the Gyro. Best lunch I ever had.

The excursion description said multiple times "hands-on" cooking class / demonstration which we would eat after we prepared. There was zero hand-ons so this was a $300 per person expensive (but delicious) lunch.
