Hot, busy, but a lot to see and great food.

Took the Plaka tour. Got only into the (newer) perimeter. The tour was too short to get deep into the older historical part of the Plaka.

We got off the ship and used the hop on/off bus to go to the Acropolis, the original Olympic stadium and the temple of zeus. The hop on/off bus was around €20 per person, but it's well worth the money and is an easy way to get around the whole city.

A great port to leave from, both the centre and pireaus had a great environment and well linked with the metro. Suggest the botanical gardens rather than the busy tourist traps such as the acropolis.

Good weather, good food, lots to see, shops everywhere and easy-ish to get around. We embarked and disembarked here and stayed a few days after, so we took the hop-on-hop-off from the Port to the hotel and started sightseeing immediately. At times we felt there was lack of organisation/clear instructions for tourists (eg, multiple queues for hop-on buses at the Acropolis without any indication of which goes where).

Start and finished here. Athens is great, but a 30 minute distance by cab from the port.

Go early or stay a few days after the cruise. Athens is such a cool city!

Busy city. Find transportation into the city center. Acropolis is within walking distance. Didn’t see anything else worth recommending.
