The current Excursion bubble that is forced on the cruise industry by Italy is very annoying. We could not shop or even talk to the locals. It was very heart wrenching to walk by the stalls with our money, rather than gifting the locals with some of the abundance.

Rome is a magical city. Wish the port was closer to the city, because at least 2-3 hours are spent driving to and fro. We did a semi-private tour with smartcruisetours and were very pleased. We stopped at the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Arc de Triomphe, and the stunning Circus Maximus. We also went to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (which is under renovations currently) and did the full tour of the Vatican, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. We went by Friends that did a large group bus tour did not have the opportunity to see nearly as many attractions as we did in a short day.

We disembarked here and transferred on our own to a hotel for a few days, exploring on our own. Rome is very walkable and full of gorgeous things to see!
