Spent 3 days on land in Rome pre-cruise. You can't see it in a day.

We had a transfer from the airport to Rome with Rome transfers. They picked us up promptly and dropped us outside our hotel. We stayed 2 nights in Rome before our cruise and it was a great idea. We did The Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and The Colosseum. It rained really heavily but it was still great. We traveled from Rome to the port by train. This was a great idea as I was €12 for 2 adults and a child. It’s was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can travel 4 hours after your ticket time but not before.

We did an outside excursion - we tried to see everything but so hard. Really need two days here - so many amazing ruins and landmarks. Went inside the colliseum and St. Peters - so mind blowing.

We did a private tour booked through Viator. THE BEST decision were ever made AND they also guarantee to get you back to the ship on time. We had the most awesome tour guide ever in Luca! We saw so many things that the folks from the shup didn't because it was just the four of us. We booked our own Vatican and Coliseum tickets. Highly recommend checking it out!

Book your own tour online beforehand. We used Viator and got a great deal with a small van and private driver. Saved $$$. Also, the Hop On Hop Off bus was highly rated by other passengers.

Just a small little town, but if you are here early and cannot get on the ship yet there are lots of cafe's you can stop and sit to have a coffee and a snack

We booked a private tour for our family of 4 through a tour company recommended by a friend (mybesttour.com). We took a golf cart around a beautiful park, to the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and the Vatican museums. Our guide was knowledgeable, fun, and super friendly. It was great because we drove through streets and areas that a large tour bus could not. We had a separate guide that took us through the Vatican and explained so much to us. It was a great experience! (Make sure shoulders & knees are covered for the Vatican - they are pretty strict about that.) So much to see - one day is definitely not enough!

Took an incredible 6 person private tour to Rome. Driver in a suit with a Mercedes van took us right to all the great sights of Rome and we had FastPass entry to the Coliseum and the Vatican. At the Vatican we also had an expert guide inside.

The grandness of Roman architecture is unbelievable and just magnificent! I had heard that Rome was dirty and had lots of graffiti, however our tour guide told us that the city has been working hard to change This and It is obvious!!! Expect the long lines and tourists but it's understandable during peak season! Too much to see in a day, but one can see the major sites
