Ephesus, the Blessed Mother's house was something we could not believe the ruins, was so mush to see. Should be in this port longer!

It was wonderful. Kusadasi has better prices, atmosphere, and traffic than Istanbul.

Did the ships tour of Ephesus, drive from ship to ruins about 20 minutes. Ruins are spectacular! Better to be with a tour, they tell you things you wouldn't know if you walked the site on your own.

Extremely interesting site but ship's excursion package only allowed 45 minutes in the site itself while allowing the same amount of time in the handicrafts shop near the port. We filed a complaint with Holland America but they said that they spoke to "other people" who liked the excursion. The probability is that these people did not know what the site was really like but having been there twice before we did and were extremely disappointed for our children who missed a wonderful opportunity.

The vendors are very determined and persistant. The trip to Ephesus is a must for Bible lovers. St Johns' Church and Motjher Mary's house are wonderful side trips. Do not engage with street vendors at the stops. The tour of the carpet makers should be optional. Visitors must watch and be very careful of exchaniging money. When purchasing any item many vendors will attempt to provide change in Turkish currency instead of Euros.
