The “Ephesus, St. John & Virgin Mary Shrine” was an historical tour for my family. It is not an effortless walk for seniors. The Ephesus site has been vastly improved and expanded since I was there before. The St John site is under construction. There is a memorial where St John is believed to be entombed. The Virgin Mary Shrine, where Mother Mary spent her last days, was interesting but not much to it.

We did a tour with “Get Your Guide” tour company. Well worth the money. Guide was very knowledgeable and the acient ruines were impressive.

We did an excursion in Ephesus. We went to see Blessed Mary’s house and walked among the ruins there. Very interesting historical facts!

A great port especially if you're interested in souvenirs, knockoffs of watches, clothing etc. Tasty Baklava and other goodies!

Excursions all went to Ephesus and it was something we had to see once. when we went back, we had more fun in town and skipped the ruins.

Must do the Ephesus excursion. Amazing. Towards the end of the excursion, we were taken to a place where rugs/carpets were handmade. Beautiful rugs/carpets could be purchased for at least half the price back home in the USA. We did not walk around the port once we returned from the excursion. However, there were many shops to look around which were within walking distance from the port.
