I am from Australia as well. You need to apply for your own visa. There is a site that can confirm which visas you need. Sometimes, cruisers are exempt from getting a visa due to the length of time spent on shore. Check with your booking agency.

I believe you do not require a visa for Turkey if you fo not disembark from the ship here.

If you are only going ashore on day trips, you shouldn't need one. we didn't two years ago. Conditions change so it's wise to always double check.
