Kotor old Town is a short walk from the cruise ship which docks in port. There were plenty of taxi drivers touting for business to take people on tours around Kotor. We resisted until asked by one driver to give him one minute to explain what he could offer. We did and we are glad we did. he goes under the name of Tours by Nef (http://tourbynef.com/). He was excellent and gave us an interesting tour to high viewing points over Budva and Kotor with free time in Budva ending with free time in Kotor. It cost us €25 each based on a taxi with four of us which was a bargain. He spoke good English, was amusing and full of interesting stories about his country. Kotor itself was an beautiful old town but I doubt there would have been enough there for a full afternoon without a wider ranging excursion. That said the countryside was beautiful and might be worth a return visit to explore more. Nef said he could help with such a visit

Do it yourself, all close to the port. Good prices. Kotor uses the Euro. Good shops & good food places close to the port. Only a 5 minute walk out the port gate. Reasonable prices. A must to go ashore, good level ground for wheelchairs with drop kerbs for ease of crossing roads.

be up on deck about 2 hrs early to see the arrival up the fiord, amazing- just a few steps from the pier is the old fortress town- walk all throughout & find interesting shops, pubs, restaurants, church, etc- don't stop at the entrance- too much inside the fortress to see!

A lovely walled city. The walls are a challenge, and only for the fitter traveller, and August is not the best time to do them, especially if there's a heatwave.

Tender port. Such a beautiful place. No need for an excursion here. We walked around, took pictures, did shopping, and had lunch.
