The trip to the carpet place that went along with the excursion was a waste of our time. We didn't need to have that pressure to buy a rug while on the trip. I hated the whole part of this. I would rather have had some time to shop for reasonable items at a local market, Everyone on the excursion felt the same..resented being put in the awkward position of having to buy an expensive rug! Not what anyone needs while on a relaxing vacation.

Booked an excursion with the ship. But felt with all the booked trips that the guide did not give us long at the sites but lots of time at the store that he was getting commission.

Ephesus is a must see. Walking the same streets as Cleopatra. The stop at the rug factory is great. I bought a rug there 12 years ago and bought another one this time, too. I imagine the tour guide get a piece of the action b/c he helped me buy it.

Didn't care so much for Izmir but LOVED Ephesus!!!! Incredible!!!! And our tour was amazing!!!!
