Very cool to see the city so soon after they started having cruise ships. The city is old and the people are friendly. We spent one night in the port and wish we could have spent the entire week. Lots of see and do in Hanava. If you are go on an excursion tuck some toilet paper in your bag for the day. We found out that toilet paper wasn't as common as we would expect coming fromthe US

Very safe and the average Cuban is more hospitable than most Americans. Book your private tours ahead through vetted trip adviser recommended sites. Youll pay triple through the ship and the tour will be crowded. We were there 1 month ago and had a private driver and a private English speaking guide for for 3 hours in a 1955 convertable Cadillac el Eldorado for 120 CUC's, now I am taking my son there for an educational experience.

Just got back today from my first cruise on Norwegian. Overall I really enjoyed it. Cabin furnishings are brand new, (balcony room 0017). My companions had a suite (room 1204) which was also new and very nice but steward not so attentive. Ship throughout was kept clean. Cabin steward service was excellent for our room. Other crew members we encountered were helpful and friendly. Drinks were included on this cruise and bartenders gave good service. It also helps to tip a little. Only noticed one bartender the whole time who had a bit of an attitude. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. Plenty of it but preparation was below what I had expected. Also, basically the same food every single day. Both dining rooms were equally disappointing although waiters were attentive. I did not try any of the a la carte restaurants. We did the morning Ultimate Havana Tour which was well worth the money. It was a very hot day but our bus had air conditioning and a bathroom. Tour was over 3 hours and our guide, Richard, was excellent at explaining the history and culture of Havana and Cuba in general. We got off the bus at Revolution Plaza where we took pictures sitting in a classic car. Driver was friendly and took all the pictures for us. Just remember to tip these guys. Also got off at a the statue of Christ, a cemetery and El Morro where you can buy cigars, rum and other souvenirs. After the tour, we went back out on our own and walked several blocks into the area across the street from the ship. Area is very old and the poor but did see a few vendors (bought some stuff) and saw some refurbishment going on. People we spoke to were friendly. Interesting architecture, too. Did not go out on a night excursion but spoke to someone who went to the Tropicana and enjoyed it. It was a great experience.I would go again. Feel free to ask any questions.

Amazing. I am slack-jawed at the food aromas, colors and sights and sounds that stir the soul here. A photographer's paradise. Sweet, beautiful, spirited people. Havana is a true charmer. Unforgettable.

Havana is a beautiful city with very kind people. It was so interesting to learn their history and get their perspective on many different issues. Oldcartours was fantastic and could not recommend them enough! They did a great job showing us Havana. They were very informative and based the drive on what we wanted to see. If you are planning an old car excursion check out oldcartours.com.

This trip will be what you make of it! I agree with other reviewers, get a taxi right out of the terminal. Super cheap and most speak English very well! We loved the Old Square near the port. The food was good and the beer was cold. We also did an excursion through the ship, "Highlights of Havana." It was a very nice tour and reasonably priced. I would not suggest going to the forest, much better sights to see in Havana.
