Had to use the ship's lifeboats for tenders, but the city is beautiful.

Two days in port allowed us to do an included tour of Cienfuegos on foot and an optional tour of the Local Culture of Cienfuegos. The first tour was good and people watching and interaction with the locals was enlightening. The second day was excellent. It included a stop at a working graphic arts studio and ended with a performance by one of the finest choirs it has been my pleasure to hear.

We did a third party walking tour with shore trips.com. Our guide was Anayce and it was WONDERFUL but we did cover about 7 miles I think. She was very well spoken, nice and full of information. Cienfuegos is more what you would think of old time Cuba and the people were as nice as could be.

We went to Bay of Pigs one day and city tour the next day. Thought we were going to get more time for shopping. Very interesting and very informative guides.

We did the overnight to Havana. Be prepared to a lengthy bus ride. The only downside to this tour.

I took the included Cienfuegos tour. It was excellent. I also took the $299 trip to Havana. The bus was nice. The tour guide was knowledgeable and open in his comments. The trip was very rushed. Very little time to explore independently. We had a surprise ride in vintage American cars. After 12 hours, all arrived back to the ship exhausted.

For what it is, Cienfuegos was nice. It is what I would call a "rural" city. People still use horse & buggy as transportation. Yes, it's a poor area with many old, run-down buildings. Once we got out of the city and into the countryside to visit El Nicho waterfall, we really enjoyed the scenery.
