We visited the fortresses and dined at Barrachina, the home of the Pina Colada. We highly recommend Barrachina and the Pina Colada! Shopping was just okay. The streets are in various states of disrepair (watch out for open holes on the sidewalks) and the incline is treacherous, but there are some beautiful views from the fortresses.

This was the only port in which we did not book an excursion. I was concerned that we wouldn’t see very much, but we went on a walking tour, and made it to the fort, which was so rich in history! It is definitely worth visiting, and worth the price of admission!! We checked out some shops along the way, stopped at a very unique little bar, and had drinks that they made & served in Coconuts 🥥 Delicious! The beautiful streets seem to be made with a blue brick, which is quite stunning. They are crooked, and difficult to walk, but worth it. Definitely not wheelchair friendly (my dad has mobility issues and would not have done well walking these streets, so they did a bus tour). We ended with drinks & dinner at Senor Frogs at the port. I’ve never been to a Senor Frogs, and quite honestly, probably wouldn’t go again. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, but the drinks and food were terrible, and service was very slow. I wasn’t looking forward to Puerto Rico (in that it was not a place that was high on my list of places to see), but I was pleasantly surprised, and actually would love to go back. The people were friendly, the sites were beautiful, and I feel like I didn’t get to see enough!! 🇵🇷

Fell in love with Puerto Rico. We walked around Old San Juan which was vibrant and looked to be fully operational. Most stores and Cafes had power and air conditioning. San Juan was one of the brightest spots on the cruise as the people of the island are so grateful that tourist are back, and extremely accommodating. We drove out to the Bacardi Distillery, but we weren’t able to go on the tour as thousands of people had gathered for an island relief concert. It was amazing to see the passion and community atmosphere that surrounded the benefit. Once again we fell in love with San Juan and can’t wait to go back.

We booked tour with Alicia (De Tour Con Ali) . She is the best tour guide. So glad we booked her. She took us to places that we did not know existed. Very thought, informative, personable. We even invited her to visit us if she comes to Dallas. Don’t hesitate booking her. She is one of the best.
