Having been here a few times, we were a little saddened by the remains of the hurricane, but pleased with how quickly they are bouncing back. They need the tourism and it's a beautiful island full wonderful hospitality and people!

No need to book an excursion if you want to see the fort. Put on your sneakers and walk there. Nice scenic path and you can hit shopping through the town if you wish on the way back. I personally didn't do any shopping in Old San Juan-very crowded and tight isn't my thing. I did stop at a few of the vendors by the pier to pick up a few touristy knickknacks.

If you go to El Moro, take trolley, it's free. El Moro is a US National Park, take your passes! Walk back would be easier!! We walked to it and most was uphill! Beautiful walk! Definitely want to revisit to see more countryside and beaches! Very friendly and felt safe.

This was my first time visiting Puerto Rico. I was expecting to see devastation due to the hurricane, but surprisingly things were up and running. It was good to pull directly into the city and go out on an excursion. We were able to take a tour of the City.

San Juan is stunning!! We explored on our own & made our way to the San Juan National Historic Site to explore one of the 2 Forts on site. The view from the top of the fort is amazing! We then made our way to a beach that was only a mile up the street from the Fort, directly across from the Capital Building. The beach was Playa Pena, a small private beach right off the side of the road. No lifeguard supervision here, it is use at own risk but it is worth it. It is gorgeous.

San Juan is BEAUTIFUL!! We walked all around San Juan, visited the forts. The damage is very evident from the hurricanes, houses and business are completely destroyed. However the spirit of the locals is amazing.

San Juan is beautiful and there is so much to do and see here that you could spend weeks here and not get to do everything. The worst thing I can say about this port is we weren't here long enough.
