You do not have a lot of time here but go find the umbrella street. It is so colorful!

We rented a Jeep and drove to El Yunque. We WILL NOT rent from Payless again, took an hour to get our vehicle and three people working the counter. Frustrating to say the least! We drove to El Yunque and although it was closed, we parked at the gate and did a little hiking up the water falls. Absolutely beautiful. When we returned the vehicle we ate a bite near the rental place and the food was Amazing! Although a little rushed for time because of the car rental, we had a great time. Still quite a bit of damage, but still a beautiful place. Love the island, love the people.

You have to give these people credit for the amount of recovery they have managed in face the massive hurricane damage. Half the homes still without electricity.

Will definetly go back for a trip here. We went away from doing an excursion because of the pricing of them and walked off the ship and found a city bus tour that was a 1/3 of the price of what the ship wanted. Enjoyable 2 hour bus ride around old and new San Juan and then still had plenty of time to walk around and grab lunch and shop.

puerto rico was great! we were originally going to go to Tortola, but there was some sort of storm going on, so instead we went to Puerto Rico. we got off of the ship, and we were expecting to have a lot of shops on the sidewalks but when we got there, we were very disappointed that there weren’t many. other than that, puerto rico was great!!

San Juan is slowly getting back to normal minus the tourists. Most of the power outage is outside the city. Many hotels are full of FEMA workers so cruisers are coming in the day of their cruise and are not really contributing to the economic recovery. Hotels are abusing the situation with astronomical rates which the US is paying for their FEMA workers. Many restaurants in the tourist areas have gone out of business and it's going to take years for this place to recover if it can.
