This was our first time here. We liked the area just outside the dock with the shops, but they were tourist traps and overpriced. I would have worn my swim suit if I knew they had a beach area with a lazy river there. Outside the shopping area looked a little sketchy so we didn't go wondering into the city.

We liked this as there is a dedicated shopping centre and water park just for cruise guests - a great way to relax as it was free to use

It is a fantastic port with a lot of stuff to do. More than we had time to see. The one thing I didn’t like is that the shore excursions pick you up very close to the ship, but drop you off 15 minutes from the ship so that you are forced to walk through their shopping area.

This was OK due to the fact that there are only few hours available, boat left around 3P or so. Not enough time for pool activities, lunch, etc. Puerto Plata is nice, enclosed for tourism and very safe.

We were shocked at all the amenities available at this port. At first, we thought it was a private resort. It was lovely and fun for all guests - especially families with children.

It poured this day but we had an ATV excursion so it was so much fun riding ATVs through the rain and mud.

I enjoyed the port area including the lazy river. Hubby did a non ship dune buggy excursion which he enjoyed.
