Monkeyland was worth it, wife and kids loved it. It does look a little suspect out of port as expected since it is not a rich country.

Port was clean; not fancy. We took an excursion to Ocean World, which frankly was not as described on the Norwegian site. There was no teaching of dance steps; there was no chocolate tasting. The "rainforest" is an area encompassing a 10 second walk through some vegetation. The "beach" is a manmade saltwater pond of sorts, and small. The bus ride was about 25 minutes each way through a non-scenic route. For those with limited mobility, pickup location is not the dropoff location. Dropoff location is MUCH further away; you have to walk through an entire shopping area before you even reach the dropoff locaiton. I get it; they are trying to get people in front of the vendors. But there was a man with us who was on crutches and it was wrong to dump him off so far away. There are better excursions available.

We chose to stay on board in this port, since we had just been there on our last cruise. The port is one of the better stops in the Dominican, in our opinion. They have small shuttles that will take you up the pier if you don't want to walk. The port has modern shopping, a fantastic free pool and a few restaurants, and a monkey viewing area.

We stuck to the in-port resort area. Loud music, lounge chairs, huge pool, a drink and my book. Not sure about prices, but my wife found some Larimar jewelry she loved.

We did a resort excursion here. Otherwise, there is nowhere to go. Resort was quite old but ok to sit int he pool and drink included drinks and go to buffet to eat food. The food was just ok even at the restaurant.
