No planned excursion. The port has a beautiful (free of charge) resort style swimming pool(s) with hammocks and loungers. They even have a Lazy River! Food and shopping in multiple places around this area.

Took a your yo Monkeyland. Nice enough your but way way way to crowded. Spent most of the time standing a waiting. Port has a resort vibe and several sites (umbrella street, pink street, church) in easy walking distance.

We took a tour in a taxi. Pedro took us to the rum factory, chocolate factory, downtown, and by the prison, orphanage, and Jumbo, and showed us the different areas of the city.

Puerto Plata downtown was awesome. Very small and quint area to explore but worth it to walk into town to see Umbrella Street and the Pink Street! Taino Bay was cool but the service in the restaurants there was dreadful!

Gave us a great taste for what is produced in this country. Had a very nice lunch of traditional foods.

We explored the port on our own, walking to the fort and Umbrella Street.

It’s a bit of a hike from the ship to the downtown, but worth it. There are some beautiful birds to observe and of course lots of shopping!
