Went to Amber Cove instead due to an ship accident at Puerto Plata. We have been to Amber Cove several times and have had a great time right at the pool area off the dock. This was not the case this time. The Carnival Mardi Gras was there also the facilities just off the dock did not have enough help to take care of this volume of passengers. We spent over an hour just trying to get a drink to no avail. Ended up going back to the ship and hanging out at the pool. The operates did only have a few hours notice that we would be there.

We did the buggy escape excursion through Norwegian and it was amazing start to finish. 10/10 recommend

Least favorite port. Excursion for ultimate beach excursion was not even close to ok. It was miserable. The excursion was oversold and area designated did not have adequate space for everyone. Winds were brisk and made being on the beach miserable. Basically being sand blasted. Limited area for getting into the ocean. We spent the afternoon in a restaurant instead of on the beach. No way to return early. Asked about getting a taxi but were told that was not safe. Had to wait for at least 3 hours to return on buses. Celebrity excursion desk said they could not control the weather and dismissed non-weather related problems. I am not sure they even know if the wind is ever better. This was the only major problem with this cruise.

The area was full of shopping, lazy river, bar/food for purchase and beach chairs. We didnt do any of that. We did an excursion through shipmate. Meet at 1130 to be back about 4 ( waterfall jumps/slides). We got back at 5 way to right for a arrival at 515. No time to shop ( could have before but we didn’t know)

Our waterfall jumping excursion was a big disappointment. Over crowded, not at all as advertised - more of a water park experience with thousands of people in a dirty river - than an invigorating excursion.
