We were there in January 2023. We took a taxi ($5 each person) to Alice Town. The beach (Radio Beach) there is beautiful. You get to meet the locals and was less crowded than the one by pier. The chairs and umbrellas were free. There is a store on site selling food and drinks. If you cross the road away from the beach, there is a small straw market with a bathroom.
