We took an hours ride around DR to go horse back riding and it was worth it. This port was so much fun.

We did the terracross excursion through Carnival. Lots of fun until the mud turned into cow crap. Not so fun to have that flung on you. People were super friendly and the food was good.

Still my favorite port! 😊 We picked this cruise because our anniversary fell on the day of this port. I just love the vibes and the feeling of being on this island. We did a different Puerto Plata tour this time. Last time we went to the Brugal Factory, Fort, Amber Museum, Catherdral and this Jewelry store that let us sample mamajuana. This time we went to the Macorix factory, we stopped at the beach for a little bit (mainly to take a picture of the statue). a museum (I forgot the name, but it was about the history of the leaders), we stopped for lunch (lunch was included with this tour and I will include a picture of it in the photo section), we walked through this person’s house who does paintings and looked at the art (you can purchase some if you like), we sampled chocolate and then we headed to the a store near the plaza where they sold jewelry, souvenirs and you can try mamajuana. After that we walked over to get fresh coconut juice (which was also concluded in the tour fee). They break open the coconut for you and give you a straw. I gave mine to my husband since he loves coconut juice. You could walk to the cathedral if you want, but we decide to wait on the bus. We already saw the cathedral the first time we went and my knees weren’t covered this time, so I decided to skip it. Our last stop was the Fort. We had a great time. Our tour guide was great and kept us entertained. After the tour we got our passports stamped stopped at the restaurant for a piña colada, did some more shopping and headed back to the ship.

Loved this stop! We were there on my bday and we did an excursion, and returned and had a blast by the pool, with the music, drinks, sun, and fun people we met!

Enjoyed our first port by hanging out in the vip area at the pool to make sure we had some shade. Even zip lined across the pool and met some super nice people.

Puerto Plata is very urban. The tour on the bus was good and the guide shared interesting information. The tourists areas were okay. We enjoyed the excursion.

Cruise port was very clean. Lots to look at, plenty of shops and spots to get food. Beautiful scenery. The bike taxis (which take you from the ship to the cruise port area, for a tip) were nice as it was hot and a long walk. We did the Monkey Jungle excursion which was excellent. It included a 3-hour round trip drive through the cities of Puerto Plata and Sousa, and it was very interesting to see how people live there. The cities were quite dirty (lots of garbage everywhere, and smelly) and bars on windows everywhere - would definitely not go exploring on my own outside of the port area without a tour group.

Beautiful shopping area, but not much else to do other than laying on the beach.
