Amber Cove is beautiful, actually reminded me of Gilligan's Island (For those of you that remember), although we spent for little actual time at the cove. There was a lot of options here depending on your interests and it is definitely worth taking the time to get off the ship and explore Puerto Plata. We visited a rum factory, the local cathedral, and had lunch at a nearby local restaurant enjoying each stop.

Felt like store personal did not trust you. Watched you as if you were going to steal something. This is the only port that I saw this. To much of influence from cruiseline not enough of local things unless you leave port area. Would have prefered more of a local enfluence in the area.

Cruising to this port next week..for anyone whose been there: would you recommend the Ocean World excursion? Keeping in mind that we’re going snorkeling the day before in Grand Turk

Beautiful island. We went to Ocean World for an excursion. The excursion was a bit unorganized but for the most part it was great. We swam with dolphins and saw a couple of shows. Pictures were very reasonably priced.
